Here Comes the Science Bit……..
Science is amazing! I mean, check out this fella! He is a 3D motor homunculus at the Natural History Museum in London. A visual representation of the body corresponding to the relative areas these parts have on the surface of the cortex (like a map of our brains surface).
But, did you know we still don’t fully understand the science behind why we laugh, yawn or blush? Or why in the womb we develop fingerprints which are unique (even identical twins fingerprints differ). There are areas of the brain science isn’t fully able to understand and our gut bacteria is also somewhat of a mystery.
This is the same with homeopathy, we don’t know exactly how it works but with 200 million people using it worldwide, they can’t all be wrong! It is thought to be a biochemical process but the intricacies of it are still unclear. Research is ongoing to help us understand this. The Homeopathic Research Institute are involved in studies which are looking at water structures and the physico-chemical properties of high dilutions. Research in this area is not limited to the homeopathic community.
Nobel prize winner Prof Luc Montagnier who was given the award for his work as a virologist and role in the discovery of HIV. When asked about homeopathy said
“the high dilutions are right. High dilutions of something are not nothing. They are water structures which mimic the original molecules.”
In the last few years, he has been reported to have been researching dilution of substances.
There are many studies showing how homeopathy is an effective medicine covering many different conditions. One of the most recent involved 500 people at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital, it showed in patients with skin complaints 72% reported being able to stop or reduce their conventional medication.
We have over 6000 remedies and as homeopathy has been around for hundreds of years there is lots of evidence as to which symptoms remedies can help with, these are called provings.
In my experience people often only come to homeopathy because they have exhausted all other options, but are thrilled by the results. So maybe we should remember just because we don’t fully understand something, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.
